Under the new building regulations all new homes require an air tightness test to be carried out.

Existing Buildings

Performing a simple air tightness test on an existing building is an excellent idea. It is not an expensive test and will only take about 2-3 hours for an average house or small to medium sized office space. An air tightnes test is especially useful when you are carrying out insulation works to your home/office as it will help the contractor identify leakage areas that may not have been initially obvious.

The function of the test is to identify where draughts are occuring and hence where you are loosing heat through the building envelope. The results of this test will help you to fix these leaks and ultimately save on wasted energy costs.
